PLAYGROUND BUILDCentral West End Families and Friends is being asked to provide assistance with a playground build at a St. Louis elementary school. Volunteers and tools for the build are presently in short supply given that the build date of the playground is after school has begun and because the build date is during the week. This project is similar to the one Central West End Families and Friends participated in with St. Stephen's Lutheran Church. KaBOOM is guiding the management of this playground build with Meadows Elementary and Mutual of Omaha Foundation as they did with the St. Stephen's playground build. Information about the event and how you can make this playground build a success by providing assistance is outlined below:
We are looking for volunteers on Thursday, August 13, 2009 to help build our new playground in 1 DAY!! Rain or ShineWhere: Meadows Elementary, 9801 Edgefield Drive, St. Louis, MO. 63136(about 5 minutes off Hwy 270/New Halls Ferry/Chambers--- in Moline Acres subdivision) AGENDA FOR AUGUST 13, 2009Volunteers arrive & register: 7:15 am (Breakfast/lunch/water bottles/T-shirt provided)Kick-Off ceremony: 8:00 amLunch in shifts: 11:00am – 12:00pmRibbon-cutting ceremony: 2:00 pm
We are also looking for tools - we need wheelbarrows, shovels, rock rakes and drills!
(For most projects/tasks volunteers must be 18 years or older; selected projects/tasks available to be performed by 16 & 17 year olds)
