If you're new to St. Louis (or even if you're not) and you're looking for snow day activities, check some of these out:
* Sledding at Art Hill in Forest Park - they usually have a bonfire and it's quite the experience
* Ice skating at Stienberg rink in Forest Park - check out http://stlouis.missouri.org/citygov/parks/forestpark/ice.html for more details on times
* Assuming the library is open there's story time today 10-10:30 - while you're there check out the local art in the gallery to the right of the north entrance - a local postman who's featured in a self-portrait is the artist - the paintings are very appealing to kids.
* If anyone is interested in a snow play date we could probably organize one pretty easily at Kennedy Park or Second Pres may let us in for a couple of hours this afternoon.
If anyone has any other ideas please feel free to share them here.

Just heard about this from a neighbor:
There is another wintertime activity in St. Louis that many do not know about, skiing at Hidden Valley in Eureka, MO. Yes, we also have skiing and it's only about 30 minutes from the Central West End. They have equipment and lessons available, as well as a lodge with fireplace, snack bar and a full bar for those that don't want feel up to skiing. We are actually heading out this afternoon. Here's their address for more info:

if you have little kids or just don't want to make the trek to Art Hill, there's a small hill in Forest Park next to the West Pine cutoff, near the Laclede/Kingshighway intersection. great, low key sledding!
